While looking through old photos, I happened upon these beauties. I’m surprised I didn’t take the time to explore these after our trip (I was probably exhausted).
In the fall of 2014, Josh and I wanted to get a huge group together and hike a section of the Appalachian Trail in North Carolina. We landed on a 31 mile stretch between Rock Gap and Nantahala Gorge. The trees were starting to turn, and we wanted a chance to spend some time outside before winter. We ultimately corralled 13 people and 1 dog to hike with us.
The weather wasn’t exactly what we planned for. It rained the first day, and winter decided to come early the second night. The temperature fell into the 30s on a weekend we thought would have lows in the 50s. Brr.
After less than ideal conditions, nature decided we’d suffered long enough. The views were gorgeous. I had an absolute blast, and it’s a memory I’ve loved reliving. I didn’t get photos of everyone because I was one of the slow pokes on this trip, but here is a cross-section.
P.S. Chili Mac saves lives.
Take a look.
